We have had a cooler than usual winter, which means your A/C has had a break. Collecting dust, debris and more. So, let’s talk about cleaning your cooling!
Is this something you should invest your time or money in? I am going to tell you a little bit about the benefits of a good deep clean of your cooling system in your home.
Some research suggests that cleaning heating and cooling system components (e.g., cooling coils, fans and heat exchangers) may improve the efficiency of your system, resulting in a longer operating life, as well as some energy and maintenance cost savings.
Clogged, dirty filters block normal airflow and reduce a system’s efficiency significantly. With normal airflow obstructed, air that bypasses the filter may carry dirt directly into the evaporator coil.
You should remove dirt and debris near the condenser unit. Your dryer vents, falling leaves, and lawn mower are all potential sources of dirt and debris. Cleaning the area around the coil, removing any debris, and trimming foliage back at least 2 feet allow for adequate airflow around the condenser.
Some of this, you can do on your own. If your system needs more of a deep clean, thorough maintenance, I suggest calling a professional to spruce up your cooling system especially before the spring heat hits!
